We are Bonn City Tours, a local tourism start up from Bonn, founded in 2017 by the history student Daniel Friesen.

Bonn City Tours offers national and international visitors high quality guided tours in many languages (German, English, Russian). Our guides do not only share knowledge from their studies and academic degrees, but also entertain our guests with authentic stories and anecdotes told in an engaging way. With his tours the 35-year-old historian has become an omnipresent figure of the daily life in Bonn.

Additionally, Bonn City Tours offers you special tours like the VW-bus tour, government district tours, tours through the dark history of Bonn, team building events or customized group and company tours.

Welcome, my name is Daniel and I am a historian and founder of Bonn City Tours. After my studies in Ireland I decided to share my positive travel experience with others by showing them my beautiful hometown. Even I as a local was amazed by the amount of local legends and anecdotes hiding behind every corner and I am looking forward to sharing these stories with you. Never stop exploring!

I’ve wanted to be a historian since I was inspired by my fantastic history teacher in the 6th grade. Throughout my studies at university and my PhD, my passion for history has only increased. But, there is little I enjoy more than sharing my historic interests to other people. And Bonn, with its city history of over 2000 years, provides me with more than enough stories to tell!

After spending my childhood in the beautiful North Caucasus, I found my new home in Bonn. Since then, I have felt a strong connection to the former federal capital on the Rhine.
My particular enthusiasm for the past developed during my studies of history and archaeology. I enjoyed working in the museum for many years, delighting visitors with fascinating stories from ancient Egypt. Now I am looking forward to telling stories from the different eras of Bonn’s history.
